Following a series of meetings during 2015 and 2016, the ODC is the collective result of five convenors to build momentum for new research into Offa’s Dyke, Wat’s Dyke and their landscape contexts. These discussions took place in the light of the (then) soon-to-be published monograph by Keith Ray and Ian Bapty Offa’s Dyke: Landscape and Hegemony in Eighth-Century Britain.
Following the publication of this book, the convenors set about establishing workshops and conference sessions to develop dialogues across Wales, England and beyond to investigating Britain’s largest and longest ancient monuments.
